How I got the story
I got into the office and we had a phone in that a street in Leicester was cordoned off. Rumours were spreading that someone had been stabbed. I drove straight there and started knocking on every door in the area.
I interviewed a man whose son had seen someone bleeding in the street and another who had seen the victim on CCTV. I also coordinated with police press officers until they confirmed a 17-year-old had died and another was injured in a suspected stabbing.
All of this contributed to the bulk of a live blog, ran alongside two colleagues back in the office.
As well as this I filed pictures and videos back to the office.
In the paper, the story was a front page with a spread inside. All of the pictures eventually used in print were those taken by me.
